🧩 Problem
Wonder Workers — a growing ministry — needed an online presence that truly reflected their mission and made it easier for people to get involved. Their previous site was a generic blog layout, which made it difficult for visitors to:
- Discover and connect with specific ministries (Kids, Men, Women)
- Learn about regular events like “Men’s Breakfast” or “Whole Woman” gatherings
- Find clear opportunities to give or reach out
The navigation didn’t guide users through the story of the ministry, and updating content wasn’t straightforward, which limited participation and internal growth.
🛠 Your Role & Tech
Role: Full-stack developer & UX-driven site architect
Stack: Custom WordPress theme, PHP, Tailwind CSS, JavaScript
Focus: Content structure, navigation, and flexible page building
🧭 Approach
Clarified User Journeys
- Identified core user types: new visitors, returning members, and support seekers
- Designed pathways that help each group move from awareness to engagement (e.g. discover → attend → give)
Reorganized Navigation
- Rebuilt the site’s top-level structure with clear, action-oriented sections: About, Ministries, Events, Giving, Shop, Contact
- Made essential info like phone and email accessible across the site
Enhanced Content Structure
- Created dedicated pages for each ministry, with relevant images and descriptions
- Integrated a user-friendly events calendar for both upcoming and past gatherings
Built Custom WordPress Blocks & Templates
- Developed reusable components for ministries, events, contact pages — enabling consistent layouts and easier updates
- Used Tailwind and PHP to keep the code lean and maintainable
Improved Engagement Signals
- Added “Get Involved” CTAs across the site
- Simplified contact with embedded forms and site-wide contact info
✅ Results & Early Outcomes
- Operational clarity: The team now has a central hub for managing and updating content
- Improved discoverability: Ministries, events, and giving options are now only a click away
- Future-ready: The structure now supports deeper engagement, better tracking, and future features like registrations or newsletters
- Professional credibility: The modern UI and organised layout reflect the mission more clearly, reinforcing trust with visitors
🚀 What I Learned
- Clear content architecture is foundational for mission-driven organisations
- Giving structure to scattered content not only improves UX, but it also empowers internal teams.
- Even without analytics, UX progress is visible in clarity, confidence, and ease of use
